We got a phone call a few months ago to go and clean and re-seal a dull Sandstone floor in Lillington, it was completely lacking it’s colour and the life of this wonderful looking floor, was in need of thorough professional clean, especially in that well-walked on kitchen triangle between the sink, cooker and fridge, they were now truly overdue for a deep clean & re-seal, so we were asked to come strip back the floor and re-seal to bring it back to life again so we could leave our wonderful client stress free.
Professional Sandstone Floor Cleaning In Lillington:
Given the lack of appearance of this sandstone floor it was closely likely this was caused by more than just ingrained dirt into the stone, that lots of ranges of floor cleaning products had been applied to this floor, so I decided the best course of action, would be to strip the floor back.I applied a dilution of our best on the market floor cleaning stripping product which is a sealer remover which lives up well to its name (Mr muscle max 3), it was left to soak into the tiles for a good thirty minutes before being worked using a rotary machine fitted with a black scrubbing brush making sure it wasn’t too aggressive for floor as some sandstones can be very soft.The soil solution was rinsed off with clean water which was removed with a wet vacuum; stubborn/hard areas were treated by hand to ensure we would get the best out of the floor, once I was happy with the general condition of the floor, it was given a thorough rinse with water to remove any traces of cleaning product and then left to dry for about 2 weeks as sandstones absorb lots of water and take quite a while to dry.
Lillington Sandstone Hard Floor Sealing:
We returned two weeks later to seal the floor, after checking the floor was dry with our moisture meter which the floor was completely dry. So we proceeded to seal the Sandstone with a couple of coats our sealing product, this sealant we were using is an impregnating sealer that penetrates deep into the stone, enhances the natural colour in the stone and provides good surface protection. The customer was also after a matt finish which this type of sealant provides also enhancing its natural colours, the customer was over the mood with the results.
