Offchurch Travertine Stone Floor Cleaning And Restoration!
We were recently called into a home in a wonderful village called Offchurch Warwickshire to clean & restore a beautiful looking Travertine Stone Floor. The stone floor was looking extremely dull and the natural colours had become very washed out, it needed professional help to clean and restore the stone to make it look like brand new again, there’s no job too big or too small for your Local Travertine restorers.
The first action we needed was to strip the floor due to the condition that the grout and the tiles were in, this product that we use is a really a strong alkaline product a very effective cleaning solution so to save time we used this product. The grout lines were also given a thorough scrub during the cleaning, after that was done the soil was extracted from the floor using our very powerful electric pump system which blasts the floor at 1400 psi also giving it an extra thorough rinse.
The next step after the thorough clean was to restore the Travertine with a special rotary machine with weights on top. We used four special pad diamonds,with different levels of grits building up the finish with a medium, fine and super fine (high gloss polish) pad until you have restored the floor. In this case the customer wanted a polished finish, so we went with all four of the pad diamonds which was 200, 400,800 and 1500 grit. This process is a very skilled job as we need to use low amount of water which is used to lubricate the process and in-between each pad the resultant slurry is rinsed away, once this is done the floor is given a thorough rinse and extracted at the same time. After the floor has been extracted and is dry we will use our rotary machine with a white buffer pad to remove any smears that is left on the Travertine. Then we leave it to dry for usually 2 or 3 days.
Travertine Tiled floor Sealing In Offchurch:
We then returned about two days after allowing the floor to dry so sealer can bond onto the stone, the floor was moisture checked to ensure it had dried out properly and was ready to seal, the floor was dry so we then proceeded to seal the floor using two saturations of the sealing solution which is an impregnating sealer that fills the pores of the stone to prevent any dirt from being ingrained there. This Sealant also does not affect the polish finish of the floor whatsoever, as done on the second stage of the cleaning and restoring process we buffered the floor with a white pad making sure the floor has the best possible shine.
