Travertine Stone Cleaning And Restoration In Leamington Spa

(Travertine Hard Floor Cleaning & Restoring In Leamington Spa) We were recently called to a home in the beautiful town of Leamington Spa to clean & restore a dull looking Travertine Stone Floor which was beautiful when first laid, We were presented with quite a few challenges on this stone floor but there’s nothing that your local super hero Leamington Spa travertine restorers cannot deal with.

The floor was beautiful when first laid but over the years it started to grow dull and need a good clean and restore(Like it seen better days more than 20 years ago). The natural colours had become washed out, the client was in desperate need for our professional help to restore their stone floor to make it look brand new again so they could be stress free.

Our first approach to start this job was to strip the floor due to the condition that the grout was in, this product that we use to strip and clean the floor is really a strong alkaline normally used for stripping all sorts of sealers and it’s also a very effective cleaning solution so to save a lot of time we used this strong product to get the best clean on the floor we possibly could. The grout was also given a thorough scrub using a special brush we have designed specially for this type of work and once, that was done the soil was extracted using our state of the art extraction wet vac machine ensuring that the Travertine was thorough rinsed ready for the floor to get restored.

The next step after we thoroughly cleaned the floor was to restore the Travertine with a special rotary machine with state of the art pad diamonds, with four different levels of diamond grits building up the finish with a medium, fine and super fine pad until you have restored the floor. In this case the customer wanted a polished finish, so we only went with 4 pad diamonds which was 200,400,800 and 1500 grit (which is a very super fine polished finish). This process is a very skilled stage as we need need to use low amount of water which is used to lubricate the process and in-between each pad the resultant slurry is rinsed away, once this is done the floor is given a thorough rinse and extracted at the same time. Then we leave it to dry for usually 48/72 hours (but in this case we left it to dry for about a week).

We then returned a week later (as we said normally it would be 48/72 hours) after allowing the floor to dry so sealer can bond into the pores of the travertine, the floor was moisture checked by a special moisture meter that we have to ensure it had dried properly, the floor was as dry as we needed it to be so we sealed it using three saturations of the sealant solution which is an impregnating sealer that fills the pores of the stone to prevent any dirt from being ingrained making the Travertine floor almost like bullet proof from any dirt and anything that may be spilt on the floor.
